Celebrating Mexico’s Independence Festivities

The 400 block of Grand Avenue between Walnut and Maple will be closed to traffic on Sunday, September 13, between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm. Sur San Francisco Unidos will host festivities for "Las Fiestas Patrias" in observance of the 199th anniversary of Mexico's Independence, as well as the independence of Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. The formal program begins at 1:00 pm, and includes raising flags from the balcony of City Hall, students from local schools presenting flags, and a program of folkloric dancing from various Latin American countries.
